Our Mission Statement:
To provide Torah education and Leadership training for avrechim (rabbinical students) who embrace the values of Torah miTzion and Yeshiva University, and to promote those values to the Jewish youth, collegiates, women and men of the Greater Toronto Area.
We are the Yeshiva University-Torah MiTzion Beit Midrash Zichron Dov, an incubator for rabbinic leaders and a resource for community education.
We are an incubator for rabbinic leaders: A minimum of 8 1/2 hours spent in personal daily study as well as hearing shiurim from our staff, working on collaborative projects and research projects, meeting with leaders of the local and global Jewish community, writing for publication in our Toronto Torah, developing their own shiurim, learning from experts in local rabbinic agencies, teaching at local Yeshivot Bnei Akiva and personally managing partnerships with local synagogue professionals to arrange programs, all help each avrech grow in Torah knowledge and pedagogic and leadership skills.
We are a resource for community education: Delivering shiurim and running programs like our Sunday morning Community Beit Midrash, offering chavrutot for partnered study, working with collegiates and high school students formally and informally, volunteering with communal organizations and publishing material in our Toronto Torah bulletin and on our website are all ways we provide Torah for the Jewish community.
Our avrechim study in Clanton Park under the guidance of Rabbi Mordechai Torczyner and Rabbi Azarya Berzon.
In all that we do, we embrace and promote the values of our parent institutions, Yeshiva University and Torah miTzion. In particular, these values include Religious Zionism and a universalist embrace that incorporates worldliness into our Torah.
Come learn with us! We invite community participation in all
three of our daily sedarim (learning sessions), and in particular at our night seder
(8:00-10:00 PM). We also offer shiurim and programs each day; please see our calendar for more information.
We are grateful for the funding and administration provided by a partnership between the Toronto community, Yeshiva University's Center for the Jewish Future, and Torah miTzion, an arm of Mizrachi. Our Beit Midrash is named "Zichron Dov" in memory of Mr. Bill Rubinstein, of blessed memory, whose ideals are represented in the Torah we learn and teach every day.
