Our Israel Mission
Our parent organizations, Torah miTzion and Yeshiva University, strongly emphasize the value of Religious Zionism.
We study and teach Torat Eretz Yisrael:
The mitzvot and halachot of living in Eretz Yisrael,
The philosophy of Ahavat Eretz Yisrael, and
The religious Zionism of Rav Yehudah Alkalai and Rav Avraham Yitzchak haKohen Kook.
We draw on classic sources as well as the approaches of today's leaders in Israel and abroad.
We promote the return of Jews to Israel and participation in the State of Israel at all levels.
Israeli Shlichim
Our Israeli shlichim, Naomi and Itamar Zolberg, lead our efforts to bring Torat Eretz Yisrael and love of Eretz Yisrael to Toronto. Their programs include:
College campus classes
Our recent Tu b'Shevat Seder
Itamar's weekly shiur b'ivrit
Cooperative projects with other Israeli shlichim.
Promoting Torat Eretz Yisrael
We present shiurim on Israel in Jewish Law and Israel in Jewish Thought.
We engage in regular shiurim and programs involving our Yeshivot Bnei Akiva high schools, and local Bnai Akiva snifim.
We publish an article on an Israeli town or region in every issue of our weekly Toronto Torah dvar torah עלון.
We offer a Yom Iyun on Yom haZikaron, and in honor of Yom ha'Atzmaut we will publish a booklet of articles with Mizrachi and participate in their city-wide celebration.
We are planning a series of shiurim for next year marking the yahrtzeits of the founders of Religious Zionism: Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak haKohen Kook (3 Elul), Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Kalischer (5 Marcheshvan) and Rabbi Yehudah Alkalai (still determining the accurate date).
